Amandeep has headed the Nelson design team since 2016, expertly co-ordinating and evaluating the briefs generated by our salespeople and producing the drawings we ultimately present to you.
Having originally studied architecture, Amandeep decided that her skills were better suited to designing what goes into buildings than the structures themselves.
Nelson immediately recognised her talent and, after giving her the opportunity to gain experience across the company’s administrative setup and to learn about the finer points of equipment specification, we sponsored her course in AutoCAD.
Predictably, she excelled throughout and began her journey as the newest member of the design team which she now leads.
She explains, “In my previous roles within the company, I would interact with drawings on a daily basis and was amazed at just how much consideration and detail went into every part of a design. For instance, how the subtlest tweak to the positioning of an item of equipment can make a profound difference to a kitchen’s functionality.”
“I love the challenges that every new day and every new project bring,” she enthuses. “Planning a layout that
works is far more involved than simply considering the equipment itself.”
“It’s about making sure that the spaces surrounding it will work in real time – when it’s at full capacity and everybody’s in full swing. Chefs should enjoy their work and with our clear workflows and dedicated zones, they’ll be able to move around unimpeded.”
Nelson has built a reputation for intelligent design and that is partly down to the company’s ability to recognise and invest in talented people and partly down to our focus on the minutiae of a design. Amandeep’s team displays a level of professionalism and dedication that we believe is apparent both in the designs we generate and in the kitchens we go on to install.
